Memorial Day services will be held Monday at the Downtown Memorial Park on the Square in Batesville at 11 a.m., according to Batesville VFW’s Post 4968 Commander “Red” Hudson.
Robert Rawson will welcome guests and Aleisha Hankins, 12-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Joy Hankins of Pope, will sing the National Anthem.
Aleisha is the granddaughter of VFW Auxiliary member Carolyn Moore.
The colors will be posted by the South Panola Air Force JROTC unit.
Ronnie Darby, a military history enthusiast, will be the special speaker for the event.
VFW member Calvin Land will lay a memorial wreath to honor Panola’s war casualties of the 20th and 21st centuries. He will lead a special focus on Panola Countians who died in World War I.
Leroy Mathews will play taps.
The public is invited.
