Letter to the editor

Did not try to pick up dog, victim says

I am writing to correct something that was published May 6, 2011 in the report of the Batesville Municipal Court.

I was bitten by a dog that belonged to Ms. Eloise Cosby and she told the court that she had spoken to me and I told her I tried to pick the dog up which was not true. I did talk to her about her dog biting me but I never told her I tried to pick the dog up. Just looking at the dog you could tell it was not being taken care of. I walk every day at the Trussell Park Walking Trail or in town.

She was just not wanting to take responsibility of the fact that we have a leash law and she was trying to get out of paying a fine. Also, when I went to her home she had a black puppy walking around in the yard with no leash and no one watching it. More than likely it will end up in the park and probably bite someone else or even someone’s child.

I just wanted to clarify that I did not tell her I was trying to pick up her dog. I would never pick up someone’s dog, especially if I did not whose it was. Besides, why would I pick up a dog when I’m walking? Just wanted to get the story right. She needs to admit when she’s wrong.

Sincerely,

Rosa Tindall
