The No. 1 boy’s doubles of Tapp Phillips and Gabe Estridge won 8-2 and the boy’s No. 2 doubles of Matthew Morehead and Austin Smith won 8-2.

According to head coach Kim Wilson, the others were close.

“I was very proud of them. They took a lot of the games to deuce, add out and add in. They were a whole lot closer than we felt like when we got on that bus. This was only their second match and some of those kids played their second match ever. We’re that young. A lot of them are still learning the basic fundamentals of the game.”

The tennis team will be back in action Monday at home in a double header against Columbus starting at 3 p.m.
