The North Delta baseball team is 3-0 and won the Magnolia Heights Tournament held this past week.
The Green Wave won its first game last Monday and defeated host Magnolia Heights 9-4 Friday and Tunica 13-0 Saturday.
First-year head coach Duke McCrory praised junior pitcher Ethan Waldrip for his relief pitching Friday night.
North Delta was down 2-1 going into the fourth inning when Waldrip relieved senior starting pitcher, Ethan Taylor.
“If there was a highlight of the game, Ethan Waldrip was it,” McCrory said.
Waldrip pitched three innings and Jim Tom Copeland pitched the seventh.
On top of that, the Green Wave bats were hot and they scored eight runs in three innings.
Austin Gant, Michael Magee and John Cody Dalrymple had two hits each. Bailey Guckert had one hit.
Saturday, Luke Latham was the wining pitcher.
Getting hits were Magee, two hits, four RBIs (runs batted in); Ethan Taylor, a double, a single and two RBIs; Gant, a single and two RBIs; and Guckert, two singles.
In three games, the Green Waves have scored 34 runs and only given up seven.
North Delta starts district play today when they travel to Indianola for junior varsity and varsity games at 4 and 6 p.m.
Thursday, they will host Indianola in a district doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
