Calvin Blakely

SARDIS–Calvin Blakely, 54, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Sardis. Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lyndoll Weeks Hale

SLEDGE–Lyndoll Weeks Hale, 86, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Hale, born Oct. 21, 1924, to the late William Michael Terrell Weeks and Roe Alma Higginbotham Weeks, was a member of Darling Baptist Church. She was the secretary of South Lake Water Association and an accountant for the family farm. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Keith and Gary Allen Hale.

Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Lynn Leach of Sledge; six sons, Anthony Earl Hale of Michigan, Thomas Michael Hale of Darling, Daniel Eugene Hale of Lakeland, Tenn., Charles Richard Hale of Independence, Mo., Stephen R. Hale of Batesville and Joseph Barry Hale of Olive Branch; one sister, Sue Veazy of Memphis; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, LeBonheur Hospital or Hollywood Baptist Church.

Beulah Mae Smith

SAGINAW, Mich.–Beulah Mae Smith, 88, formerly of Crenshaw, died Friday, December 3, 2010.

Services were Thursday in Saginaw, Mich. Visitation will be held Monday December 13 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Smith, born Sept. 23, 1922, to H.E. Lloyd and Pearl Lloyd, was a retired teacher. She graduated from Rust College in Holly Springs. She was a member of Mt. Siniai M.B. Church in Saginaw.

Survivors include: three daughters, Freddie Mae Simpson of Cordova, Shirley Presley of Saginaw and Lavonzelle Wilson of Memphis; four sons, Willie R. Smith and Larry Smith, both of Saginaw, Lloyd Smith and Clinton Smith, both of Memphis; three sisters, Callie Love of Detroit, Nyanthia Townsend and Ernestine Burnett, both of Batesville and her step-mother, Kathryne Lloyd of Batesville.
