Bobby Jean Goodwin

POPE–Bobby Jean Goodwin, 74, formerly of Grenada, died Friday, December 3, 2010.

Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Blackjack Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Goodwin, born Aug. 7, 1936, in Batesville, to the late Robert and Ruth May Goodwin, graduated from Blackjack High School in 1954 and went to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. Following his military service he worked for Universal Steel Buildings and Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada for 20 years. He was a member of Grenada Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Tracy Pickett and her husband, Brad of Pope; one son, Michael Goodwin and his wife, Karen of Copppell, Texas; one sister, Betty Logue of Batesville; three brothers, Billy Goodwin of Courtland, Albert Goodwin of Enid, Clifton “Skip” Goodwin of Batesville and four grandchildren, Taylor and Dustin Buford and Jackson and Manley Pickett.

Dewey Richard Gregory

BATESVILLE–Dewey Richard “DR” Gregory, 83, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Batesville.

Services will be held Wednesday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope. Rev. Jay Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Dewey, born April 24, 1927, in Memphis, to Mary Kathleen Finger and Robert Lee Gregory Sr., was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and a founder of the Chickasaw Neighborhood Watch. He worked in maintenance for General Motors in Memphis.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kathy Jablonski of Pope; one son, Rick Gregory of Ridgetop, Tenn.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Liberty Hill Cemetery Fund, 5033 Pope-Water Valley Rd., Pope, Miss. 38658.

Bobbie Dean Hubbard

ANCHORAGE, Alaska–Bobbie Dean Hubbard, 74, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, in St. Louis. He was a former native of Panola County.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope.

Hubbard, born Aug. 31, 1936, to the late Jack and Sula Hubbard, served in the U.S. Air Force over 21 years, while stationed in Japan, Vietnam, and numerous bases across the U.S.

Survivors include: his wife, Shiu Chin Martha Hubbard of Anchorage; one daughter, Lisa Marie Berry of St. Louis and one son, Jon Voderman Hubbard of Upper Marlboro, Md. and six grandchildren.

James Henry Melton

SARDIS–James Henry Melton, 58, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Reverends David Freeman and Mike Porter officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Melton, born Feb. 11, 1952, in Grenada, to the late Carl Bilbo Melton and Velma Melton, worked for Parker Hannifan Company for 26 years as a sample maker.

Survivors include: his wife, Laura Benson Melton of Sardis; two sons, Andy Melton and his wife, Carla of Sarah, James Melton and his wife, Lisa of Batesville; three step-daughters, Sheree Benson of Sardis, Kenisha Benson of Sardis, Nekesia Watson of Sardis; three sisters, Margie Melton Peters of Horseshoe Lake, Ark., Beillie Melton Babb of Frazier, Tenn., Rachel Melton Clark of Olive Branch and 12 grandchildren.

Dennis Pettis

COMO–Dennis Pettis, 49, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010.

Services were Monday at the PGA Building in Sardis. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include: one son, Gary Bogan of Como; 10 sisters, Stella Phillips, Mae Phillips, Mattie Phillips, Earnestine Phillips, Linda Mabry, all of Sardis, Mary Beritto, Callie Pettis, Mary Gardner, Liz Black, and Gloria Hardin all of Como and three brothers, Elmo Phillips and Robert Gardner, both of Como and James Gardner of Sardis.

Stephen Russell Pierce

BATESVILLE–Stephen Russell Pierce, 61, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Goodhope Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Pierce was a member of Goodhope Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Hazel Morris Pierce of Batesville; one daughter, Angela Rose Pierce of Sardis; four sons, Steve Joe Pierce and Sonny Lee Pierce, both of Coldwater, William Pierce of Crenshaw and Daniel Pierce of Strayhorn; three step-children, David Morris, Debbie Morris and Scotty Morris, all of Batesville; three sisters, Linda Pierce of Tennessee, Lavona Wagner of Cordova and Sandra Melissa Eley of Tunica; one brother, William Randall Pierce of Sarah; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Lucette Boueyrie Still

SARDIS–Lucette Boueyrie Still, 84, died November, 30, 2010, at her residence.

Services were Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Still, born Dec. 13, 1925, in France, to the late Joseph Boueyrie and Juliette Macket Boueyrie, was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and an Avon representative.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe “Mack” Still and one daughter, Linda Teresa Still.

Survivors include: two daughters, Marie Lipscomb and Lydia Smith, both of Sardis; one son, Joseph “Jo Jo” Still of Sardis; one brother, Jean Boueyrie of France; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“Rennie” Roberson Sbravati

LAMBERT–”Rennie” Roberson Sbravati, 37, died  Friday, December 3, 2010, at her residence. She was the sister of Bobby Roberson of Crowder.

Services were Sunday at Community Independent Baptist Church. Rev. Raymond Roberson officiated. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Golden Roberson.

Sbravati, born May 4, 1973,  was a homemaker and a member of Community Independent Baptist Church.

Survivors along with her brother include: her husband, Brian Sbravati of Lambert; two daughters, Destiny Shawn Collums and Madison Briana Sbravati, both of Lambert; one sister, Betty Jane Russell of Teasdale; two brothers, Raymond Russell II of Lambert and Eddie Roberson of Ripley and her father, Raymond Roberson and his wife Ruby of Lambert.
