Sidney “Hank” Ellis Sr.

BATESVILLE–Sidney “Hank” Ellis Sr., 69, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Darrin Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Ellis, born March 2, 1941, in Batesville, to the late Howard Jim Ellis and Lillian B. Jones Ellis, was a machine operator for the City of Batesville. He was a member of New Hope M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Elegene Ellis of Batesville; three daughters, Sharon Morgan, Annette Ellis and Nikki Ellis, all of Batesville; two sons, Farrah Ellis of Batesville and Sidney Ellis Jr. of Crenshaw; four brothers, Larry Ellis and Howard Ellis, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Ulyc “Ned” Ellis and Gregory Chapman of Batesville; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lilly Belle Frazier

MEMPHIS–Lilly Belle Frazier, 78, died Saturday, November 6, 2010, at her residence. She was the sister of Ruby Armstrong of Batesville.

Services were Wednesday at Oliver Chapel in Winona. burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill. Oliver Funeral Home had charge.

Frazier, born to the late Guy and Jodie Caffey Frazier, was a retired employee of Nunnery Cleaners in Memphis and a member of Red Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors along with her sister include: one son, Joseph Paul Frazier of Memphis and one sister, Mary Helon Telford of Nesbit.

Willie James Harvey

POPE–Willie James Harvey Jr., 57, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Harvey, born April 24, 1953, in Pope, to Tiny Shegog Harvey of Pope and the late Willie James Harvey, was a fork lift driver for Thermos. He was a member of Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

Survivors along with his mother incude: his wife, Ethel Dean Harvey of Pope; one daughter, Toria Harvey of Pope; one son, Willie L. Harvey of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister, Donna K. Harvey of Pope; one brother, Mickey Harvey of Pope and five grandchildren.

Robert Reed Morris Jr.

SARDIS–Robert Reed Morris Jr., 72, formerly of Senatobia, died Monday, November 8, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.

Morris, born to the late Robert Reid “Babe” Morris Sr. and Erma Floyd Morris, served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne. He was a retired supervisor for the City of Senatobia, and was a retired supervisor for Morris Oil Company. He was also a former chief of the volunteer fire department in Senatobia. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Senatobia.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Robinson Morris of Sardis; two daughters, Elizabeth Evonne Morris of Jackson and Jennifer Morris Goodnight of Arlington, Tenn.; one son, Robert Reid Morris III of Batesville; one sister, Kay Morris Simpson of Senatobia and his grandchildren, Cody Austin Goodnight, Mary Emily Morris, Martha Elizabeth Morris and Robert Reid Morris IV.

Daisy Lee Smith

SARDIS–Daisy Lee Smith, 97, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at her residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh C.M.E. Church. Rev. Benard Sanders will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Smith, born Jan. 12, 1913, in Sardis, to the late Wilson Gordon and Lillie Pearl Bishop was a farmer and a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh C.M.E. Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Odis Smith, Charles Smith and Willis Gordon, all of Sardis; six daughters, Mae Gartha Parker of Memphis, Dorothy Jones of Storm Lake, Iowa, Bertha Kinsey, Bobbie Jackson, Gloria Dean Smith and Gracie Harvey, all of Chicago; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ila Faye Taylor White

BATESVILLE–Ila Faye Taylor White, 93, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from noon until service time. Burial will be held in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

White was a member of Enon Baptist Church where she served as church secretary.

Survivors include: one daughter, Myra Lynn Simmons and her husband, Tom Simmons; two grandchildren, Matthew Taylor Simmons and Andrew Vick Simmons.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 104 Panola Ave., Batesville.
