When Indianola’s offense first took the field, it looked like it was going to be a tough fastpitch district shootout.

It only took moments for the North Delta Lady Green Wave’s offense to put all worries to rest.

In a 17-1, three-inning route, the North Delta Lady Green Wave remained undefeated in district play for a 14-3-1 overall and 7-0 district record.

Green Wave senior pitcher Mary Jane Morrow pitched the complete game in three innings. She faced 13 batters, striking out seven and allowing two walks, one hit and one earned run.

Indianola scored its only run in the top of the first. Leadoff batter Jessica Holmes got on base on a walk and scored on a single RBI (run batted in) by third baseman Swayze Carothers.

The rest of the game was all the Lady Green Wave.

Leadoff batter Vicki Johnson got on base when she was hit by a pitch, stole second and came home on a Hastings Neal single RBI.

Bradi Beard got on base when the second baseman dropped the ball, stole second and advanced to third on an Erin Snider single RBI which drove home Hastings.

With Beard and Snider in scoring positions, senior first baseman Madison Greenlee stepped to the plate and hit a ‘rocket’ ball to left center and beat the throw to home for an inside-the-park homerun. Three of her last four at-bats have resulted in homeruns in two games.

Morrow and catcher Anna Lloyd also got on base with a walk and single, respectively. Hannah Heafner, courtesy runner for Morrow, scored on a passed ball and Lloyd on a stolen base.

Then the Lady Green Wave were back at the top of the batting order with Johnson, Julianna Morrow and Neal, all scoring. Johnson scored on a passed ball from third. Julianna Morrow on a Neal RBI. Beard hit a triple to drive home Neal.

Lady Green Wave head coach Damon Plummer started substituting the younger players in the bottom of the second and the Lady Green Wave scored seven more runs to invoke the three inning, 15-run mercy rule.

Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, three runs and one stolen base. Julianna Morrow was 1-for-3 with a walk, three stolen bases and two runs.

Neal was 2-for-3, with three runs and a stolen base.

Beard was 2-for-3, three runs, three RBIs, including a double, triple and one stolen base.

Snider was 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI.

Greenlee was 1-for-2, with two runs, three RBIs, one walk and one stolen base. Lloyd was 1-for-2 with two runs, and two stolen bases. Johns was 0-for-2 with a walk, one run and one stolen base.

The Lady Green Wave hosted Delta Academy in non-conference action Thursday, but the score was not available at press time. The Lady Green Wave will be off for 12 days and return to action Tuesday, September 14 on the road to play Indianola in district action.
