The community served by the North Panola School District will find an open forum Thursday night to comment and ask questions.
Glenn Swan, the outgoing state conservator, has announced the public meeting, where incoming conservator Dr. Oscar Love will greet the public.
The meeting will start at 6:30 at North Panola High School in Sardis.
The meeting represents an opportunity to “ask questions and clear up any concerns” about student achievement in the school district, Swan stated in a press release.
Among coming questions is the most obvious: why is the school district being sent its third conservator within two years?
Swan has attempted to answer that question, explaining to The Panolian that conservators are appointed on an interim basis with the understanding that they can be moved around.
Swan has said he is being moved to serve as conservator over the Hazelhurst School District.
Swan and other conservators are under the direction of the Mississippi Board of Education.
Love follows Swan, who has been on the job since March. Swan had replaced Bob Strebeck, who abruptly resigned in February.
Strebeck served as the original conservator after he was appointed in May 2008.
