Steelers advance to Super Bowl

The Batesville 11- and 12-year-old Steelers will get a chance to defend their Super bowl title after taking a thrilling 18-6 victory over Oxford Saturday at  South Panola.

Oluwain Hoskins scored three touchdowns including a 105-yard interception on the last play of the game to seal the win.

With Batesville leading 12-6 with 23 seconds remaining in the contest and Oxford having the ball on the Steeler nine, Hoskins picked off a pass in the endzone and raced down the left side of the field for the touchdown.

Hoskins’ one-yard scoring run with 16 seconds remaining in the second quarter gave the Steelers a 6-0 halftime lead. After Oxford scored on the first play of the fourth quarter to knot the game at 6-6, Hoskins raced 33 yards for a touchdown  to make the score 12-6 with 4:51 remaining in the game. Brady Scott recovered a fumble on the defensive side of the ball.

The Steelers will now play the Clarksdale/ Tunica winner Saturday at 12 p.m.
