Locals start for CSBL

The Cotton States Baseball League stats for the month of June has the Tallahatchie Rascals in first place with an 8-2 overall record. Playing in the league from Batesville are Corbin Moore, Rascals; Whit Whitten, Tupelo Thunder; Ethan Bright and Joseph Blair, North Delta Dealers.

Moore has a .316 batting average in the seven games he has played.

With 19 at-bats, Moore has six hits, two runs and four RBIs (runs batted in). He walked once and was hit by a pitch once. He has four stolen bases in four attempts.

The Dealers are in second place with a 7-4-1 record. Bright has had two appearances on the mound and recorded one save after pitching three innings. He has faced nine batters and recorded three strikeouts. He has allowed one hit and one earned run. His ERA is 3.00.

At the plate, he started eight of nine games with 25 at-bats and a .320 batting average. He has eight hits, eight runs, one triple, one homerun and three RBIs. He has walked seven times and been hit by a pitch once. He has stolen two bases in two attempts. In the field he is .727 percent.

Blair has a .983 fielding percentage with 98 put-outs at the plate. At the plate, he has a .318 batting average through all 12 games in which he has started. With 44 at bats, he has 14 hits, eight runs, three doubles and three RBIs. He has walked once and been hit by a pitch once.

The Thunder is 6-6 overall. Whitten has a .273 batting average in the three games he played and started. He has 11 at bats, three hits, one run and one double. He walked once.

The BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League schedule for the upcoming week has been modified to eliminate mid-week double headers.  Games originally scheduled as a 6 p.m. double-header with two 7-innings games on tap have been modified to a single nine-inning game with a 6:30 p.m. start time. Games affected are Jets-Rascals Monday July 6 and Dealers-Thunder Tuesday July 7. Additionally, Rascals-Thunder on Thursday July 9 will be rescheduled to a 6:30 start time to conform to the new standard schedule format.  This game was originally a 9-inning game and will remain so.
