The South Panola Lady Tiger basketball team remains undefeated and ranked in the top 10 in the Clarion-Ledger.
They defeated Horn Lake on December 2 and won by three points, 54-51.
The district game between the Lady Tigers and Columbus was canceled on Tuesday due to bad weather and is rescheduled for January 16.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Clarksdale Tuesday night to take on the Lady Wildcats in non conference action. Friday, is the first district game as the Tiger teams prepare to face Tupelo who is also ranked in the Clarion-Ledger.
“It will be two weeks since we played,” said Lady Tiger head coach Ralph Stallings. “We’ve been playing surprisingly well. We’re still trying to learn each other. It’s the first time that we’ve had some kids in the lineup and we’re just trying to get the feel of each other.
“It has hurt us right now since we haven??t been able to play as many games as we should,” Stallings continued. “Hopefully, we’re going to be able to pick up during the Christmas holidays. We’ve got a couple of tournaments that we’re playing in. I didn’t want them to peak too early but at the same time I wanted them to get more game experience but this couldn’t be helped.”
Stallings spoke about the chemistry developing between the players and how he is pleased with the “hustle factor.”
“We’re still making a lot of mistakes but when you can win making mistakes, that’s a good sign,” he said. “If you get some of those mistakes corrected, then you could have a pretty good season. I’m still holding out and hoping for that.”
Tipoff is 6 p.m. followed by the boys game.
