Panola County teams win two of three

Friday night highlights
South Panola

The South Panola Tigers made it 77 in a row with a 34-0 shutout of old nemesis, the Clarksdale Wildcats. Following heavy rains this week, fields across the state are being termed mud bowls from the churning of cleats.

South Panola jumped out on top 7-0 on a two-yard run by Domonique Carothers with nine seconds left in the first quarter.

Other Tiger scorers include quarterback David Renfroe, a 12-yard run and a four-yard run; Nicklos Brassell, three-yard pass reception from Renfroe; and Qyendairs Griffin on a 15-yard run.


North Delta

The North Delta Green Wave got in the win column with a 25-20 win over Lee Academy of Arkansas. The Green Wave led 25-0 at the half.

The quarterback Bateman Greenlee to Jim Tom Copeland connection was good for touchdown passes of 37 and 35-yard passes. Hunter West scored on a 16-yard run in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Geri Lamm scored on a four-yard run with 29 seconds to go in the halftime to close out the Green Wave scoring for the night.


North Panola

The Cougars welcomed the Tigers of Ripley and were routed 42-24. After the game, head coach Clifton Davis Sr. challenged the players to not lay down and accept this loss. He urged them to a higher level of commitment to playing football for the Cougars by coming to every practice whether they are sick or not.

Ripley scored 35 points before the Cougars got on the boards with their first touchdown at the 10:19 mark of the third quarter. Vernon Lewis scored on a 15-yard pass reception from Quin Ellis. He also scored the two-point conversion.

The Cougars scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard pass reception from Ellis to Marque Phillips and a one yad run by Ellis.
