Letter to the editor

What happened to basketball rims at Legion?

I have been a resident of Batesville for a number of years. I have seen the good and the bad things in Batesville. But myself and a few others are are just confused about a few things.

Why have they taken down the basketball rims at the American Legion Park? That’s the question myself and countless others want to know. This is a public park that we as taxpayers pay for.

I would understand if American Legion Park wasn’t designed for baskeball, like Trussell Park, but American Legion Park is for basketball. I’m sure that whomever made that decision to take the rims down had a reason.

I remember four rims came down. Nobody knew why. Nothing was said. We started playing on the last two rims for years. Now the last two rims are gone.

American Legion used to be the choice park. When I go by there now, I get depressed. It’s a big void there, I wonder was that decision the right one.

I encourage the ones that made the decision to explore more options.

I believe there’s another way to handle the problem. Myself and countless others would like the rims back.

A simple request. Your early response will be appreciated.
Signed,
