Softball/baseball camps offered

The South Panola baseball and softball teams have announced dates for annual camps to be held this summer.

South Panola baseball will host its annual summer baseball camp Monday through Wednesday, May 28-30, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $30 per camper ages 8 to 13.

Participants should bring a glove, bat (if they have one), and catchers bring their gear. Concessions will be for sale during breaks.

Emphasis will be placed on team defense, along with all aspects of the game, according to Tiger head coach Patrick Robey. All youth league teams are encouraged to attend. An effort will be made to keep teams together in order to improve their communication and teamwork.  

The recently crowned 5A State Champion South Panola fastpitch softball team will host  a softball camp at the South Panola softball field Monday through Thursday, June 18-21, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. daily. The camp is for ages 6 to 14. Pre-registration cost is $60 and $75 on the day of the camp. A parental consent form must be signed.

The goals for the camp are (1) to develop fundamental skills and (2) hitting, bunting, catching, pitching and fielding. Camp t-shirts are included.
