The South Panola Tigers are 2-1 after slamming Lafayette 20-13 Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
“We hit well,” Tiger head coach Patrick Robey said.
The Tigers scored eight runs in the top of the second inning, followed by five in the third inning.
The other seven runs were spread throughout the rest of the game. On the mound to start the game for the Tigers was Mitchell Babb, who pitched three innings. He was relieved for one inning by Matt Hendrix. Brice Belvin finished the game pitching the last three innings.
The Tigers had 12 hits and Lafayette 13.
Ethan Bright had four hits on the evening, including a triple and Wesley Gregg had two, including a double.
Other hitters include David Renfroe and Belvin, doubles and Whit Whitten with a triple.
It will be busy night tonight as the baseball team will be hosting Cleveland while the fastpitch team hosts Southaven, weather permitting.
Game times for the boys is 5 p.m. for jr. Varsity followed by the varsity at 7 p.m.
