SP girls take 2nd at Southaven meet

The South Panola girls track and field team garnered a second place finish at the Southaven Charger Invitational meet Thursday.

Crystal Mays won the 100 meters with a time of 12.49 while teammates Kiersten Clark and Aziyah McGhee placed third and seventh respectively.

Mays also took home second in the high jump with a leap of 4’10”.

Five Lady Tigers finished in the top nine spots of the 200 meter run with Clark winning the event with a time of 26.93.

Samyra Brown followed Clark for second while Jada Wilson took home the fourth spot. McGhee and Mayes finished in eighth and ninth place.

In the 400 meters, it was Brown and Clark hitting the tape in third and fourth place. The 4×200 relay team came in first with a time of 1:44.47.

In the field event, Ladayshia Robinson finished third in the shot put with a throw of 28’ 4”.

The boys meanwhile finished in 11th place with Calvin Bishop placing eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 11:57 while Sam Kirkland finished 10th in the 3200 meter run at 11:27.
