John Ira Hardy
John Ira Hardy, 72, passed Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at the Panola Medical Center in Batesville.
A memorial service will be today (Jan. 3) at 2 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.
John graduated high school from Tunica High School, and went on to Northwest Jr. College where he played football. John worked in management for Hostess Cake before retirement in 2000.
The loving family he leaves behind include his wife, Sherry Biffle, of Batesville;
daughters, Leigh Hardy Swindle (Ricky), of Batesville, Lisa Hardy Ross (Jared), of
Senatobia, Erika Hardy Stoldt (Ryan), of Attica, Mich., Toni Hardy, of Williamston, Mich.; grandchildren, Mason Anthony, Chandler Stoldt, Spencer McGraw, Trinity Stoldt, Antonio Perales, II, Kaiden Stoldt, Jordan Stoldt, and Ali Perales.

William Andy Hightower
William Andy Hightower, 69, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at Region One Medical Center in Memphis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church
in Batesville with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time.
He spent 19 years driving for Dowdle Gas Company building many close relationships with his customers, whom he loved.
Andy’s kind and loving memory will be cherished by his wife, Beth Manning Hightower, of Batesville; three sisters, Carolyn McCoy (Tommy) of Kilmichael, Betty Herron (Bruce) of Mobile, Ala., and Joy Parker (Mike) of Winona; three brothers, Clayton Hightower (Sue) of Vaiden, John Hightower of Winona, and Roy Hightower (Kay) of Oxford.
Mary Laverne Mabry
Funeral services for Mary Laverne Mabry, 66, will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ozine Thomas officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Cooley’s Mortuary.
She died Dec. 23, 2019, at her home in Sardis.
Visitation is today (Jan. 3) from noon to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.
Fannie Mae Brewer Sanders
Fannie Mae Brewer Sanders, 79, passed Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at her home in Batesville.
A private graveside service was held at Forrest Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 31. A memorial gathering was held at Mrs. Sanders Home from 1-7 p.m., at 243 Pollard Street, Batesville.
Mrs. Sanders was a loving wife and mother that loved to cook and sew. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Amy Williford (Jimmy), of Batesville; four sisters, Jimmie Thompson, of Batesville, Marie Lantrip, of Horn Lake, Miss., Myrtle Watson, of Oxford, and Margie Havens, of Enid; one brother, Jerry Brewer, of Kansas; a special niece, Kim Sanders (Tracy); special great-nieces, Brittany Boyles and Tracee Sanders; and her grand-dog, Cub Williford.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made toward final expenses. Dickins Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
Dorothy Thompson
Dorothy (Tardy) Thompson, 70, died Dec. 27, 2019, at her home in Batesville. She was a retired machine operator at Parker and Hannifin Inc.
Visitation is today (Jan. 3) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. A family wake is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church with Pastor Walter Newson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
