Dedication ceremony held for Jones infant
Published 3:58 pm Thursday, December 5, 2019
It’s tomorrow night, Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. that we will give a repeat performance of One Starry Night – A Savior is Born at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church.
I had a text for a dear reader, Mary Sue Peters, who began reading The Panolian after moving to Crenshaw from Germantown two years ago. Thanks for the compliments and we hope to see you and your husband, plus all our readers from Crenshaw and everywhere, at the program.
Several people have asked for directions, and it’s easy. The church is located at the intersection of Hwy. 315 and Mt. Olivet Road. From Batesville going east, Hwy. 315 is the Water Valley exit and has a large sign pointing to the exit ramp. Once on 315, the church is about two miles on the right.
I think one of the most beautiful ceremonies that more and more couples are choosing to have performed is the Dedication Service of an infant.
Sunday, Dec. 1, at Mt. Olivet Methodist, Cassi Barbee and B.J. Jones had a beautiful dedication ceremony of their infant daughter, Elizabeth Raegan Jones.
Raegan is the granddaughter of James Ray and Kim Barbee and Heather Barbee. She is also the granddaughter of Darlene Jones and the late Bobby Jones. Great-grandparents are Jo Barbee and the late Jimmy Lee Barbee, and Jane Clark and Sandra Garner.
Raegan’s great-grandfather is J.W. Cosby.
Cassi and B.J. chose the name Elizabeth for Raegan’s first name in memory of her great-great-grandmother Elizabeth Jones and her great-grandmother Elizabeth (Mrs. J.W.) Cosby.
Instead of the minister taking the baby up and down the aisle to introduce the baby to the congregation, which is the custom, Bro. Charles asked B.J. to do the honors. A beaming dad got to introduce his baby girl to the members.
Beginning next week look for special Christmas tradition stories to start!
