Details of a fatal car accident near the Love’s Travel Stop on Hwy. 35 North in the early hours of Thursday morning were unavailable at press time.

James MCArthur Scott III, 35, died at the scene of the accident, according to Panola County Coroner Gracie Grant Gulledge.

Panola County deputies took charge of the investigation. Batesville Police Department Deputy Chief Kerry Pittman confirmed that local policemen were on the scene, but said nothing more about the circumstances of the wreck could be released.

The Sheriff’s Department will make further information available on Friday.
