Jan. 28

Panola County Extension Service reminds producers that there are two dates to renew or acquire Private Applicators Certification Training  (PAT) licenses for persons who need to purchase Restricted Use Pesticides for their ag operations. Both meetings will be held at the Extension Office at 245 Eureka, Batesville. Training sessions will be Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 28&29 at 10 a.m. each day. Cost is $20. Batesville Dental, 113 Eureka St., is offering FREE preventative and basic dental services to all members of local law enforcement, their spouses, and children on Monday, Jan. 28. Call 563-7644 to schedule an appointment.

South Panola Parent Center will hold the workshop, “Understanding and Redirecting Misbehavior” Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Presenter is Dameon Cunningham, BSW, Field Educator, Family Resource Center of North MS in Como. Jan. 30

The North Panola Mobile Food Pantry that was scheduled to make distribution at Cistern Baptist Church in Como on Tuesday has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30 from noon to 2 p.m. Vouchers will remain valid for this distribution. If there any questions call 901-277-0511.

Feb. 2 & 9

Registration for baseball and softball for the spring at J.P. Hudson Park will be consecutive Saturdays, Feb. 2 & 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TVEPA Building. Cost is $110 for first child and $75 for additional signups.

Class Reunion Planning Time! It has been nearly 50 years for the Patton Lane High School Class of 1969, and we are starting to plan for our Class Reunion in September 2019. We are looking for each Classmate to help  with the planning. Please call or text Lottie Frison

March 14-16

The 10th annual Fit Camp 2019 returns March 14-16 (Thurs. – Sat.) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  and from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory on Keating Dr. The 5k starts at 9 a.m. on the 16th. Everyone is invited and encouraged to take part. 

Feb. 15

Pre-K registration for Batesville Elementary School will be held Feb. 15  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the two-story red brick building on the BES campus at 110 College St. Children must be four years old on, or before, Sept. 1, 2019, to register. School officials said parents/guardians should bring the following items: certified birth cerfiticate, immunization Form 121, Social Security card, two proofs of 911 address, proof of child’s health insurance, and proof of family income for the year 2018 (tax return or W-2 form).

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.

The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.

The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m

Al-Anon support group for family and friends of alcoholics will meet at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
