Letter to Editor: Local hospital Is great asset

Dear Editor,

We would like to take this opportunity to tell the community about two great experiences that we have had in the last couple of months.

We hear people saying all the time that the hospital in Batesville needs to close, that the care is horrible. Well, we carried my father to the ER department one Saturday afternoon with a fever and not able to breathe. Everybody in the ER jumped in and provided him with excellent care.

He was admitted and the staff on the floor took excellent care of him and my mom also was take care of. All of the staff went out of their way to see to their every need. About two weeks ago I could not figure out my father’s C-PAP mask straps. I went to the floor and asked to see a respiratory therapist to assist me. The nurses at the nurses’ station called a therapist for me and she came to help him with it.

While I was out of town my mom had a heart incident and was carried to the same hospital by ambulance and again the care was exceptional. She was transferred to Oxford after she was stable and we could not have asked for any better treatment.

We would also like to thank Lifeguard Ambulance service for coming each and every time my mom needs assistance to get our father out of the floor. I am sure those of you who have elderly spouses or parents know the feeling of helplessness why you have no one to call for assistance.

They are always so polite and caring, making sure he is alright. This is a wonderful service to have in Panola County. Our county and town is blessed to have these services.
