Helen Hansen Bell, 85, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford.

Funeral arrangements will be posted by Wells Funeral Home when complete.

 

Eddie Paul “Little Paul” Best, Jr., 48, died Wed., Nov. 21, 2018, at the Winona Manor Nursing Home in Winona.

He was born July 28, 1970, to Hazel Cook Best and the late Eddie Paul Best, Sr. in Quitman County. He was a member of the Enid Lake Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Paul Best, Sr. The family will be having a private memorial service at a later date.

 

Leslie Deborah Musgrove “Debbie” Billingsley, age 59, passed away Nov. 25, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Debbie was the widow of Maxwell H. Billingsley, Jr.

There will be a memorial service for Debbie held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. Chuck Strong will officiate.

Debbie was born Jan. 5, 1959, to the late Henry J. Musgrove and Mary Nina Rogers Musgrove in Lambert. Debbie retired from Northwest Mississippi Community College where she was an administrative assistant.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Senatobia. In her spare time, Debbie enjoyed going to the beach, Christmas Holidays and watching cooking shows.

The loving family she leaves behind include her son, Scott Billingsley (Laurie); two sisters, Maxine Musgrove and Cathy Johnson both of Batesville; two brothers, Wayne Musgrove of Blue Springs, and Ronnie Musgrove of Madison; and two grandchildren, Maxwell and Liam Billingsley.

Memorial contribution in Debbie’s honor may be made to N.W.C.C., 4975 Hwy 51 N. Senatobia, MS 38668.

 

Juanita D. Newman, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Funeral services were 2 p.m.. Sunday (Nov. 25) in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Enid.

She was born July 10, 1925, in Farrell, and lived in Memphis most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Alfred Davie and Virgil Wolfe Thorsen, and by her husband of 38 years, James Charles Newman Sr.

 

Tommie L. Joiner, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Joiner was the husband of Fay Wilson Joiner.

Funeral services were scheduled to be posted by Wells Funeral Home Monday afternoon.

 

 

David E. Johns, 68, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 28) in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park with military honors. 

David was born May 21, 1950, to the late Lemuel Maxwell and Frances Marie Houston Johns in Marks. He proudly served his country in the U.S.  Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
