Goodnite’s celebrate 65th anniversary

J. T. and Carolyn Trussell Goodnite celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018.
They were joined in marriage in Grenada, in 1953 and spent their first few years together in Sardis where Mr. Goodnite was engaged in the cattle business with his father, John F. Goodnite.
The couple moved to Batesville in 1956 when he was hired at Dunlap & Kyle, Inc. to work in the parts department. He retired in 1996 after 40 and ½ years with the company. Mrs. Goodnite has been a homemaker during most of their married life except for a brief employment as bookkeeper for Blakely Electric.
She has been active in First Baptist Church and was a participant and leader in Explorer’s Bible Study for several years. The marriage was blessed with two children, the late John T. “Johnny” Goodnite, Jr. and Christy Goodnite Broome, also of Batesville. Their daughter, Christy, is married to Bart Broome.
The Goodnites shared their love of family with their two grandchildren, the late Brett Thomas Broome and Dane Marshall Broome. Friends and family have enjoyed their hospitality and Mrs. Goodnite’s special gift of cooking for many years.
The couple has truly been blessed with a happy and loving 65 years together.
