NP travels to Choctaw County for third round

By Ike House
For the first time in school history North Panola football will be played in the third round of playoffs. The Cougars will travel to Ackerman tonight to face off against Choctaw County. The Chargers will be a tough task for the Cougars to handle with their “Wing T” offense.
The offense is based on a good run game which the Chargers have displayed all season totaling 2,808 yards on the ground from their main contributors in the backfield including a quarterback who has run for 379 yards and passed for 973 yards for a total of 20 touchdowns.
But the Cougars are also getting numbers from the quarterback position. Kenneth Jefferson has 2,646 yards passing and 1,095 yards on the ground with a total of 41 touchdowns.
On the defensive side the Cougars have a ball hawk in Tyler Shorter. Shorter has gathered eight interceptions and is also looking for more.
Sylvonta Oliver is his running partner with five interceptions on the season. Both teams have 10 wins on the season with North Panola having their first ever undefeated season.
The winner of this match will meet the winner of the Yazoo County/Houston winner in the north state championship next Friday. Upon a win, it would be North Panola’s first ever appearance in the North Half. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
