BPD investigating homicide on Bradford St.

By John Howell
A Thursday afternoon homicide at 102 Bradford Street, off Hoskins Road in Batesville, attracted a large law enforcement. Batesville Police Chief Jimmy McCloud said that police received a call at 2:08 p.m. and quickly arrived on the scene, finding a deceased adult male in a car.
At 2:50 p.m., the victim’s body remained in the small, gold car where he had been shot while the Panola County Coroner and police detectives examined the scene. People believed to be the victim’s family members and neighbors gathered on porches and along Hoskins Road.
Officers from the Panola County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol joined BPD officers. Neighbors and passerby milled about on Hoskins Road and clustered near Bradford Street homes seeking more information about the murder. Assistant District Attorney Jay Hale was also present.
Little further information was available at presstime as the investigation continued.
