Lady Tigers soccer gets first win of season

Sidney Medina’s first half goal propeled the South Panola Lady Tiger soccer team to their first victory in two years with a 1-0 win over Independence Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers later fell to Strayhorn 3-0 in a rescheduled match from November 28th.
The South Panola boys also earned a split with a 2-0 win over Strayhorn after dropping a 1-0 tilt to Independence earlier in the day.  A.J Norwod and John Railey added goals for the Tigers who improved its record to 3-7 on the season.
Both Tiger squads dropped division  games to Hernando Thursday as the girls fell 7-0 while the boys lost a close 2-1 decision to the visiting Tigers. Noah Willis penalty kick in the second half accounted for South Panola’s lone goal.
South Panola returns to action tonight as the travel to Tupelo for a pair of matches beginning at 5 p.m. The Tigers next home game is scheduled for January 20 against Lake Cormorant.
