Accident on Hwy. 51 claims one

Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper First Class Joey Miller said that a Sardis woman was killed Saturday, November 19 in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 51.
As the southbound 2007 Saturn approached the Tallahatchie River, the vehicle “left the roadway, overturned and landed upside down partially submerged in water,” Miller stated in an email.
Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge said the victim, Deniece Jefferson-Ellis of Sardis, was pronounced dead at Merit Health Batesville.
The accident remains under investigation, Miller said.
