North Panola’s history-making season comes to an end at hands of Velma Jackson

The Cougars big season has come to an end with a 51-12 loss to Velma Jackson.
They had their second 10 win season in school history since the playoff system began. The Cougars had a tough matchup on Friday and could not overcome everything the Falcons threw at them and ended the season (10-3).
The Cougars jumped out early on their second offensive drive and scored on one play after getting in good field position. Kenneth Jefferson found Jamarvis Echols on a 28-yard pass. They failed to get the conversion but went up 6-0.
The Cougars turned around on the kickoff and squib kicked the ball with Ryshonne Bishop recovering the kick.
But after recovery the kick the Cougars could not finish the drive and punted.
After the Cougar defense stopped the Falcons again they started their drive on the 28. After driving all the way down to the 15, Jefferson was intercepted on the one yard line.
After the Falcons got the turnover they finally put points on the board. After having a lengthy drive the Falcons found the endzone on a 10 yard run. The Falcons kicked a PAT to put the them in the lead 7-6.
After stalled drives the Falcons found the endzone on a one play drive from the 10. The score put them up 14-6.
Velma did not take long to increase their score after getting the ball back they took only two plays to score from 46 yards out. The Falcons scored on a 25 yard run that put them up 21-6 after getting the PAT.
The Cougars did not go to half without a fight and had a five play drive for 42 yards that ended with Jefferson scoring on a two yard run.
Velma Jackson got the ball after the half and did not take long to score. They got in good field position after a long kick return. It only took two plays for the Falcons to score. They put the ball in from nine yards out and increased their lead to 28-12.
North Panola stalled again and Velma Jackson kept rolling with a five play, 46-yard drive.
The Falcons scored from 18 yards out and after a two point conversion, they went up 35-12.
The Falcons went on to score twice more in the game putting the game away with a final of 51-12.
Jefferson led the Cougars going 15-28 for 145 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also had five carries for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Leading the rushing attack was Lavonta Towns with 11 carries for 84 yards. Other rushers were T’Marya Russell with 13 carries for 62 yards and Jamal Leverson with four carries for 18 yards.
Leading the receiving corps was Echols with seven catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. Other receivers were Towns with three catches for 18 yards, Jonathan Harris with two catches for 11 yards, Jarvis Echols and Delvin Kimmons both with a catch for four yards.
Leading the defense was Bishop with six tackles, three tackles for a loss and a sack. Other tacklers were David Burton with two tackles for a loss and two tackles, Demarco Smith with two tackles and a fumble recovery, Sylvonta Oliver, Stan Gross and Montreal Connor all had two tackles a piece, Malcomn Lyons had a tackle, a tackle for a loss and a sack and Quinterrious Walls and Eric Bailey had a tackle for a loss.
