Como police apprehend juvenile after late night burglary at Dollar General

By Rupert Howell
A juvenile has been arrested and placed in detention and the stolen property recovered following a late night burglary that was followed by a foot chase Tuesday beginning at Como Dollar General Store.
Como Police Chief Earl Burdette said Wednesday that CPD Patrolmen Mario Presley and another officer responded immediately to an alarm around midnight at Dollar General answering the call using “textbook” procedures.
The culprit ran across a nearby field, with both him and Presley winding up in an “eight foot ditch,” Burdette said.
The suspect dropped stolen merchandise during the 400 yard chase according to Burdette who noted, “He shouldn’t have been out anyway,” referring to a Como curfew placed on juveniles.
Burdette said Presley sustained slight injuries during the pursuit.
“He did a great job protecting the store as well as citizens. Once they get away with one they move on to another,” Burdette says he has learned through previous experience.
