Murray Allen

Murray Allen, 84, passed away early Thursday morning, July 14, 2016, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison.
A memorial service for Murray will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS in the Activity Room. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Born on November 22, 1931 to the late B.O. and Iva Allen in Meridian, MS, Murray proudly served his country during the Korean War and then used his business education from Mississippi College to work in corporations and hospitals as an accountant and business manager. He also served as a lay missionary as well as deacon in small Baptist churches in Arizona, New York, and Ohio. Many Sundays he could be found speaking to churches as a Gideon. After retiring, he became an ordained Baptist minister, pastoring a church in Barnesville, OH.
Since moving to St. Catherine’s Village in 2000, he has taught a Sunday School class and led Bible devotionals there. He has touched the lives of many and will be missed as a constant presence in the halls of St. Catherine’s.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Geneva, of Madison; his daughter, Patty Higgs (Billy) of Batesville; one brother, Arleigh (Jeanette) of Hickory; two grandchildren, Christopher Dennis (Leigh Ann) and Katie Boyd (Erin), both of Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Shannon McCullough (Rob) and Logan Willis (Dan), both of Pope; two great-granddaughters and four step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; two brothers; and one sister.
Due to Murray’s request for his body to be donated to science through the University Medical Center, his memorial service will be a time of celebration of his life and devotion to the Lord’s work.

BATESVILLE––Scott Denson, 101, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Golden Living Center.
Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Persimmon Hill M.B. Church in Enid. Visitation will be held Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Dewayne Chapman will officiate. Interment will be held at Persimmon Hill Church Cemetery in Enid. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Denson, born March 3, 1915, in Enid, to the late Scott Denson and Luster Hull Denson, was a retired auto mechanic and a member of Persimmon Hill M.B. Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Pope Lodge 445-A.
Survivors include: two sons, David Denson of Memphis and Andrew Louis Denson of Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter, Lera Shelby of Lompoc, Calif.; granddaughter he raised, Dr. Chandar Lewis of Clinton; one sister, Christine Foster of Batesville; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Michael A. Harmon

SARDIS––Michael A. Harmon, 53, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Tupelo Hospice House.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor W.O. McKinney will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.
Harmon, born April 14, 1963, in Lafayette, to James Pearson of Oxford and Bernice Harmon of Huntsville, Ala., was a factory worker and a member of Abundant Life Outreach Ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Harmon of Sardis; one son, Anthony Norwood of Sardis; daughters, Sharon Norwood of Sardis; two brothers, Greg Harmon of Como and Bill Harmon of Holly Springs; sisters, Teresa Harmon of Huntsville, Ala. and Kimberly Harmon of Alabama and three grandchildren.

Arthur C. Howell

DAYTON, Texas––Arthur C. Howell, 75, formerly of Rena Lara and former employee at Wonder Bread, died July 15, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, had charge.
He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. 

Connie Kirkland

Connie Kirkland, age 78, passed away Friday evening July 15, 2016 at Quitman County Hospital in Marks.
The family held graveside services at Crowder Cemetery in Crowder, MS. on Monday July 18, 2016, Rev. Earnest Gordon officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Everett L. Redd

SARAH––Everett L. Redd, 71, of Sarah, passed away July 18, 2016.
Services were held Thursday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Air Force and retired from Entergy after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth H. Redd; daughters, Amber Redd of Sarah, Brooke Sosebee (Nick) of Senatobia; sons, Alan Pennington of Memphis, Matt Robertson of Batesville, Everett Robertson (Beth) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Bonnie Kee of Sarah; brothers, Jimmy Red (Sandra) of Horn Lake, Jerry Red (Mary Jo) of Batesville, Alan Red (Tammy) of Sarah, Jeff Red (Roseann) of Sarah and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Bernice Red.
He was a member of Crockett Church of Christ. Memorials may be sent to the Sardis Lake Christian Camp.

Wally Sam Pang

BATESVILLE––Wally Pang, 74, passed away at his home in Batesville, Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
Funeral services for Mr. Pang will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Marks Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wally born August 4, 1941, to the late Linn Yee Pang and Stella Rose Sue Pang in Marks, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.
 He was the owner of Wally’s Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Wally enjoyed many things in life. He loved Ole Miss Football. Fishing was one of his favorite activities along with gardening, painting, and Politics. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his famiy.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mabel Pang of Batesville; his daughter, Colleen Pang Montgomery (Chase) of Batesville; his two sons, TSgt. Michael Pang of Navarre Fla., and Dr. Walter Pang of Jackson; his sister, Josephine Pang Lowe (Jimmy) of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Raymond Pang of Houston, Texas and Telford Pang (Stacy) of Marks, and one grandchild, Caroline Montgomery.

Lula Mae Campbell Taylor

COMO––Lula Mae Campbell Taylor, 85, passed away July 15, 2016 at her residence.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Services will be held Saturday, July 23, at 12:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Sardis, MS, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Tullos Wright

JACKSON––Patricia Ann Tullos Wright, 73, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Travis Shepard officiated. Interment was at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Wright, born Dec. 2, 1942, to the late Walter Berlin Tullos and Erma Lee Lamb Tullos, in Quitman County, was a member of The Apostolic Church in Millington, Tenn. She was employed for 35 years as a stylist at Pat’s Beauty Salon in Louisville.
