The Cotton Warehouse Farmers Market will host an Alliance for Sustainable Agricultural Production field day this Friday, July 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The field day at the former Federal Compress building at 550 Highway 6 West will offer information on farm financial management and a new produce safety program, according to an Extension Service news release.

Co-hosting the field day with the Alliance is Start 2 Finish Community Farms Happy Foods Project owner Robbie Pollard, Cotton Warehouse owner Danny Holland said.

Experts with the Mississippi State University Extension Service and Forestry Experiment State, Alcorn State University Extension Program, the National Center for Appropriate Technology, the U. S. D. A. Risk Management Agency and other partners will present information on insurance, record keeping, risk management and new produce safety regulations.

The field day is free, but pre-registration is required. On-site check-in starts at 10 a.m.

The Cotton Warehouse Farmers Market sells local produce and other Mississippi grown or raised products. It is uniquely paired in the former Compress building with the Classic Cars dealership.

The Happy Foods project operates a mobile food truck to provide area residents with fresh, locally-grown produce.

Other partners in Friday’s field day include the University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic, the Mississippi Dept. of Agriculture and the Miss. Dept. of Education.
