NP sends 24 to regional track meet

District track meets have taken place and North Panola will advance 24 tracksters to regionals including four relay teams, four distance runners and four field eventers.
The Cougars only have two returning tracksters that went to state. Shanique Burnette is one of the two that is headed down the path of returning to state as she came in third on the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.27. She also came in second in the 800m run with a time of 2:59.05.
The other is Derian Ferrell who placed second in the shot put with a throw of 40-10. Also advancing to regional for the Cougars will be Carlisha Presley in the 1600m where she placed fourth with a time of 7:55.91. Norclessia Edwards will be joining her as she placed third in the 3200m run with a time of 19:31.16.
The four relay teams will be the girls 4X100m,4X200m and the boys 4X100m and 4X400m. Familiar faces for the girls will be LaErica Spann, KiTyra Webb, Iesha Glover and Monique Burnette.
The boys are young at both of their relay teams as the 4X100m team consist of Tyler Shorter, Clarence Taylor, Jarvis Renix and Sylvonta Oliver.
The 4X400m team included Roydarius Jackson, Jonathan Harris, Delvin Kimmons and Lashaun Renix and they placed fourth with a time of 4:02.90.
Other field events will be Jackson on the high jump. He jumped a 5-06 at the district meet. Shorter will be in the long jump as he jumped a 18-09.75. Chris Clark will also be in the regional event with a 105-01 throw on discus last week.
The Cougars will travel to Winona this Saturday to compete in the regional track meet.
