Jags get by Jr. High Lady Tigers

Batesville Junior High fastpitch softball team lost to Desoto Central 1-0 Monday night in the Battle in Batesville tournament.
The Lady Tigers took the field first and allowed the only run in the first inning. Rebekah Cook walked two batters and struck one out in the first inning. Three other Desoto Central players got on base with a single. One single to second basemen, Molly Seay, was caught on the ground and thrown to first for the out, then another runner was tagged out at home by Bailey Russell.
Bailey Ware was the leadoff batter with a walk to first, only to be tagged out running to second in a double play as Molly Seay grounded out to second.
Cook reached first on an error. Addison Hardy battled out six foul balls before grounding out to first, ending the first inning.
In the second inning, the Lady Tigers took the field with a three-up-three-down down defense as Cook struck out a batter in between two outs at first. On offense the Lady Tigers were unable to produce any runs as three of their five batters were struck out, leaving two runners on base.
In the third and final inning, the Lady Tigers held Desoto Central to their single run by tagging out three of the four batters at first. Janarria Sanford started off the offense in the last inning with a single past third base, but after that it was three-up-three-down down for Desoto Central.
The Lady Tigers will face Senatobia at home on Monday at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
