Neighboring teams face off in NPJH tournament

North Panola Jr High hosted a tournament that included schools from all over: MS Palmer, Coldwater, South Panola, Rosa Fort and Independence.

The first game on the day was the South Panola Lady Tigers that took on MS Palmer. Where they had great game blowing out their opponents with a 35-8 win. The girls had a big advantage by forcing of turnovers and competing to go undefeated for the day. The Lady Tigers dismantled Palmer. The leading scorer for the Lady Tigers was Takyra Webster with 18 points were she seemed to be unstoppable.

In the second game was South Panola boys against MS Palmer. The Tigers got off to a slow start but soon got rolling as they cruised to a 21-10 victory. Palmer was forced to score most of their from the line because of the Tigers defense. Leading the way for the Tigers was Qudarius Hodges with eight points.

The North Panola Jr High girls faced Coldwater in a game where they handled the opposition with a 22-5 win. The Lady Cougars jumped out of the gate early with a 10-0 run to start the game. Coldwater could not cut into the deficit as they lost 22-5 behind a big 10 point performance from Paige Ward.

The Jr. High Cougars were next in a close game where the Cougars for the entire game. The Cougars faces Independence and won 31-28 in a close game. Independence made a late push that put them back in the game but with some missed free throws and a missed three-pointer, the Cougars held on behind a big performance from Ankerion Gross with 16 points.

Next back on the floor was the Lady Tigers where they faced off against Coldwater. They blew out the Cougars with a 34-6 win. Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Takyra Webster with another big performance with 14 points.

The Tigers took their only loss of the day against Rosa Fort where they were beaten badly = 34-20. The Lions took the game late in the second half with a 12 point run. Leading the way for the Tigers was Qudarius Hodges with 10 points.

North Panola girls were on next and lost their last game against Independence. They were beaten on fast breaks all night where Independence broke the game open with a second half push. The Lady Cougars lost 23-13. Leading the Lady Cougars was Paige Ward with six points.
The last game of the day was North Panola boy facing Coldwater where they won 29-25 in overtime. They were in a battle til the end but some free throws late helped win the game for the Cougars as they were led by Ankerion Gross with a 10 point performance.
