David Avant

SARDIS––David Avant, 55, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Cistern Hill in Como. Burial will be in Cistern Hill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Avant was born Feb. 7, 1960, in Memphis, to the late Aaron Avant and Clara Norris-Avant.

Survivors include: two brothers, Eddie Lee Avant of Sardis and William Avant of Memphis; one sister, Michelle Avant-Todd of Memphis and his grandmother, Warrean Norris of Sardis.

Susan Lynn Sanders

SARDIS––Susan Lynn Sanders, 68, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. 

Services were held Saturday at Highland Heights Presbyterian Church in Cordova. Committal was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Wells Funeral Home had charge. 

Sanders, born March 6, 1947, to the late Thomas Ward Payne and Mary Kathryn Forsyteh Payne, in Memphis, attended Treadwell High School and obtained a bachelor of arts and masters in art history from the University of Memphis. She was a member of Highpoint Church in Memphis. 

Survivors include: daughters, Heather Lynne Davis of Collierville, Ladye Joanne Sanders Lemmon of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Margaret Elisabeth Sanders Smith of Memphis; one son, John Baskin Sanders of Oxford; one sister, Mary Ann Cole of Memphis; three grandchildren.
