Churches can honor pastors for Clergy Appreciation Day

By Myra Bean
Each year the second Sunday in October is slated as Clergy Appreciation Day. Church members around the world take this time to publicly honor the people in charge of their ministries.

The Panolian helps the local ministries to honor their clergy in the Panola People section with advertising spots members can purchase to highlight the ministers.

This year on Friday, October 9, The Panolian has set aside space in the Panola People B-section. Deadline to get ads with photos and messages is Friday, October 2.

Churches have been mailed a letter to help them. Members can also see page A10 in today’s edition for advertising information.

Ads start at $30. For more information or to get your message in, call Dianne Hadorn or Michelle Buckner at (662) 563-4591 or email classifieds@panolian.com or michelleb@panolian.com.

Contests
The Panolian is also busy with various ongoing contests that the readers are hopefully enjoying.
The football contest will continue through December 1.

BINGO is in full swing for this fourth installment. The next installment is scheduled to start November 8. The traditional BINGO games are not in effect for this round. See the back of the page for the accepted BINGO matches. The kite, full diamond and goal post have already been used. There are five more ways to BINGO: any 2 postage stamps; brackets; broken frame, and bulls eye. Four-postage stamp will win the $200.

Parents have until Wednesday to turn in entries for the Cutest Baby Calendar Contest. The public will start voting Friday and vote through October 23.

Winners will be contacted by phone or mail and Christina Houston will take the baby photos this year.

On Halloween, The Panolian will be sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Panolian. People of all ages are invited to take part.

Just plan to bring your own pumpkin, lawn chair, design and carving tools. Some tools and designs will be available.

While parents and siblings are carving, the younger ones can decorate their pumpkins and then have fun on the bouncy house.
