Firefighters from a dozen departments stretched across the South Panola High School football field at halftime last Friday night as the school district honored their efforts in fighting the blaze at Batesville Elementary School July 10. Principal LaSherry Irby and Superintendent Tim Wilder walked down the line expressing thanks to the men and women whose work saved the historic brick school building adjacent to the kindergarten wing which was destroyed.
