Want to help with Convoy? Attend meeting on Tuesday

By Rita Howell
An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. at  Batesville First Baptist Church to plan for a one-day visit to Batesville next spring by the Convoy of Hope. The international non-profit, headquartered in Springfield, Mo., will send a transport truck filled with groceries to town while partnering with local organizations to offer a wide range of assistance for families in need.

When Convoy of Hope came to the Batesville Civic Center in May, 2011, more than 3,000 people received free groceries and other free services.

A total of 780 local volunteers worked to provide lunch, haircuts, medical and dental clinic, clothing distribution, counseling, children’s activities, and assistance with job search and GED preparation.
Anyone who would like to help with the planning for the next Convoy of Hope visit, set for April, 2016, should attend Tuesday’s meeting, which will be conducted by Jason Bachman, regional Convoy of Hope coordinator. Dr. David Ball is the local liaison for Convoy of Hope. Call 563-7681 for information.
