By Rita Howell
The American Cancer Society’s Panola Relay for Life fundraiser will be held tonight at the arena adjacent to the Batesville Civic Center beginning with opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.

A number of local teams representing businesses and other groups will be on hand to walk laps and sponsor activities throughout the evening.

There will also be live entertainment and food.

At Tri-Lakes Medical Center, the Relay team began their activities last night as Lee Herron, Newt Benson, Ryan Overall and Don Cuykendall cooked Boston butts on a smoker all night to fill orders they’ve already taken.

Tri-Lakes will have a bouncy house on site for kids, and the team will sell barbecue nachos made to order.
