AMERICUS, Ga.–Bobby Gale Hester, 67, died January 31 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. He was the brother of C.W. Bridges of Batesville.

Born October 23, 1947 in Lambert to the late Vernell Richard Hester and Della Mae Terry Hester, he was retired from the City of Americus where he was a correctional officer. A Vietnam veteran, he belonged to Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held February 4 at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Houston Berry, the Rev. David Kitchens, the Rev. Rick Smith and the Rev. Raymond Smith officiated. Burial with military honors took place at Andersonville National Cemetery.

Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Paula Tedford Hester of Americus; four daughters, Stacy Hester Dowdy of Smithville, Ga.; Amy Daley Deltoro of Jefferson, Ga.; Holly Hester Lott of Andersonville, Ga., and Lindsay Hester Solley of Bonaire, Ga.; a son, Shannon Weaver of Marks; a sister, Judy Hester Jabr of Clarksdale; two other brothers, Larry Hester of Blue Springs and Terry G. Hester of McGee; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
