A Courtland man was found guilty of possessing counterfeit money after a short trial Wednesday in Batesville Municipal Court, although the defendant was not present.
Officer Greg Jones testified that Billy Middleton, 260 Greenbriar Circle, Courtland, used a fake ten dollar bill at Piggly Wiggly. He was fined $368.
Middleton was also on the docket for public drunk charges. After failing to appear to answer the charges, Alright Bonding was notified.
Nicholas Arnold, 1187 Weaver Farm, Springhill, Tenn., failed to appear to answer charges of DUI-refusal, no driver’s license, reckless driving, no proof of insurance and shoplifting. Fox Bonding was notified.
Marcus D. Nelson, 801 Anderson St., Marks, paid a cash fine of $328 in full prior to court for malicious mischief.
Johathan McCray, 253 Baybury Lane, Jackson, failed to appear to answer a shoplifting charge. Alright Bonding was notified.
Pierre Conner, 370 Ford Rd., Batesville, paid his fines of $393 that have been due since March 2014 in full after court.
Charles Edward Cox Jr., 118 Williams St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting a game system controller worth $119.22 from Walmart. He entered the city’s work release program for 20 days in lieu of paying $1,146 in fines.
Clarence Hardrick, 207 George Thomas, Batesville, had a case for DUI-second, expired tag and careless driving continued until next week after telling the court he wished to speak to a lawyer.
Hardrick entered a not guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. A trial was set for January 28.
Truman Johnson Jr., 226 Gordon Dr., Batesville, paid $529 in full prior to court for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since April 2014.
David Towns III, 204 Claude St., Batesville, entered the city’s work program for 31 days in lieu of paying $1,773 for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since October 2013.
Markeevan Ford, 2074-C Morrow Rd., Batesville, was found guilty in his absence of disorderly conduct-failure to comply after Officer Will Parrish testified in a short trial.
He was fined $647.
Reginald Brown, 2316 Alameda Ave., Memphis, was found guilty of disorderly conduct-failure to comply after a short trial. He was fined $227.
