Otto Sanford
COURTLAND––Otto Sanforrd, 80, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Salem M.B. Church in Courtland. Pastor Larry Itson will officiate. Visitation will be held today 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Sanford, born July 20, 1934, in Courtland, to the late George Sanford and Laura Ford, was a truck driver at Dunlap and Kyle in Batesville and a member of Salem M.B. Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Margarette Strong Sanford of Courtland; five sons, James Otis Sanford of Crenshaw, Michael Tyrone Sanford, Cornell Sanford, Christopher Devon Sanford and Charles Strong, all of Courtland; four daughters, Margaret Morgan, Mary E. Sanford Hines and Felisha Sanford, all of Courtland and Jeanette Pegues of Batesville; two brothers, Louie Sanford of Batesville and Linwood Sanford of Minneapolis; one sister, Urna Sanford of Batesville; a special cousin, Loasteen Mitchell; 36 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
John R. Simmons
SOUTHAVEN––John R. Simmons Sr., 79, died Thursday, November 27, 2014, at North Delta Hospice House in Southaven.
Services were held Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Simmons, born March 25, 1935, to the late George M. and Johnnie Morman Simmons, in Charleston, was a heavy equipment operator. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include: four daughters, Cathy S. Thompson and Peggy S. Snider, both of Batesville, Donna S. Allen of Coldwater, Debbie Pannell of Franklin, Tenn.; two sons, John R. Simmons Jr. of Tunica and James W. Simmons of Coldwater; one sister, Bessie Spencer of Batesville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
