Annette Broome Demaidi

BATESVILLE––Annette Broome Demaidi, 54, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Batesville.

Services were held Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Derrick Simmons and Keith Keeton officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Demaidi was born July 31, 1960, in Sardis.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alex Broome Shields.

Survivors include: her parents, Dr. Carlock Broome and his wife, Hilda of Pope; mother, Doris Patton and husband, Richard of Oxford; daughters, Scarlett Shields Robison and her husband, Patrick of Batesville and Brittany Gennette Shields of Batesville; three sisters, SuEllen Broome Wood and husband, Jason of Pontotoc, Lara Broome Baker and husband, Jason of Batesville and Emily Broome Keeton and husband, Keith of Carthage; two brothers, Erik Broome and  his wife, Teri of Batesville and John Massey and his wife, Lauren of Oxford; five grandchildren, Tristan Goddard, Cecil Cate Bolton, Shields Robison, Amory McCullar and Bryson Allen.

The family asks those wishing to make memorial contributions to forward those to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.


James Dowdle

COURTLAND––James Dowdle, 74, died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Derrick Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home, who has charge of arrangements.

Dowdle was born Aug. 19, 1940, to the late Randolph Dowdle and Addie Mae Ross Dowdle.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Armando Reyes-Jaurez.

Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Dowdle of Courtland; three daughters, Marnie Ann McElroy of Troup, Texas, Sandra Gale Holt of Picayune and Karen Jenkins of Courtland; two sons, James Edward Dowdle Jr. of Troup and Timothy James Dowdle of Mantachie; two step-sons, Rodney Dale Brown of Pontotoc and Jason Tyrone Brown of Tupelo; one sister, Mary Alice Havens of Batesville and one brother, Archie Dowdle of Cruger.

Beverly Kaye Jones

BATESVILLE––Beverly Kaye Jones, 52, died Thursday, August 21, 2014, at her residence.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Pastor Nehemiah Martin will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Jones, born July 7, 1962, in Batesville, to the late E. J. Jones Sr. and Bertha Willingham Jones, graduated from South Panola High School. She was a former factory worker for Thermos Company and a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church in Batesville where she was an usher.

Survivors include: one son, Kevin Jones of Batesville; two daughters, Devin Jones of Washington and Marquita Jones of Jackson; three brothers, E. J. Jones Jr. of Courtland, Bobby Jones and Brandon Jones, both of Batesville; four sisters, Debra Jones of Bartlett, LaDonna Jones of Walls, Audra Wheatley and Andrea Jones, both of Batesville; and eight grandchildren.

John Lawson True

BATESVILLE––John Lawson True, 75, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from noon until service time. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Hal Johnson will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

True, born Jan. 4, 1939, in Water Valley, to the late Mechach Turner True and Dorothy Littleton True, retired from C&N Railroad after 39 years of service as a conductor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Beard True and one son, John L. True Jr.

Survivors include: two sons, Jody True of Hernando and Scotty McCain of Olive Branch; two sisters, Ann Schimdt of Virginia Beach, Va. and Mary Hegwood of Wauchula, Fla.; one brother, Jim True of Water Valley; and two grandchildren.


Delma “Buddy” Burdine Wilder

BATESVILLE–– Delma “Buddy” Burdine Wilder, 73, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at his residence.

Services were held Friday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. Dr. Tommy Snyder officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Mr. Wilder was born September 14, 1940 in Pontotoc to the late Loyce Quitman Wilder and Lucille Ball Wilder. Wilder retired from many years of banking with Regions Bank in Batesville. He was member of First Baptist Church in Batesville. During his lifetime he was a Youth Sunday School teacher, a Boy Scout Leader, and a member of the Batesville Civitan Club where he served as Treasurer.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean Eastham Wilder of Batesville; one daughter, Ginger Wilder Morelli of Memphis; two sisters, Martha Wilder Bradley of Memphis and Beverly Wilder McNeece of Hernando; and one brother Joseph Wilder of Conway, Ark.

Robert Wooten

COMO––Robert Wooten, 61, died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday, August 30 at noon at Hammond Hill M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home, who has charge of arrangement.
