A grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to construct a hangar at the Panola County Airport, according to an announcement last week by Rep. Bennie Thompson. The announcement came on heels of a lobbying trip to D.C. last week by several county and city officials.

The $ 331,596 grant was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration to Panola County to construct a hangar at Panola County Airport.

The construction of a hangar building will assist the airport to be as self-sustaining as possible by generating revenue, Thompson’s announcement stated.
