North Delta football will host a spring scrimmage with Independence and Tunica Academy.


Thursday, May 15

North Panola football will play in the Lafayette spring scrimmage against Lafayette and Lake Cormorant.


Saturday, May 17

The Seventh Annual Racing For Paws 5K benefits The Panola County Humane Society and efforts to provide care to abandoned and lost animals, and low-cost neutering services.


Monday-Thursday, May 19-22

North Delta will host basketball camps for girls and boys Monday through Thursday, May 19-22. Cost of the camp is $60. Girls camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and boys camp will be 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Anyone entering first through ninth grades may attend. Campers will be divided into three groups based on grade and will be instructed in offensive and defensive basketball skills.

There will also be opportunities to earn trophies and ribbons in various skill competitions.

Coaches Phil Douglas, Nancy Douglas and Harrison Nickle will conduct the girls camp. They will be assisted by varsity North Delta Lady Wave basketball players.

Nickle will be camp director of the boys camp assisted by Phil Douglas and varsity Green Wave players.

Saturday, Sunday, May 24, 25

The 42nd annual St. Jude Bass Classic will be held at Sardis Lake.

In pre-tournament festivities, cast members from the popular reality show “Swamp People” will appear at Performance Marine on Saturday, May 24. Cast members include Gator Queen Elizabeth Cavalier Choate, her husband, Justin, and cast mate Glenn Guist.

Fee is $250 per team. 

Applications are available at Performance Marine in Sardis, Wal-Mart or by calling tournament director Rick Lesley at 901-412-7683 and register by phone with a credit card.

Grand attendance prize is a fully rigged War Eagle 761 Renegade boat with a Yamaha outboard. Guaranteed payout, sponsored by Wolfchase Nissan, is $5,000 first place, $3,000 second place and $2,000 third place.
