Judge hears seven cases of shoplifting in city court

Judge Bill McKenzie ordered a case bound over to the grand jury during Batesville Municipal Court held Monday.

Tabatha Pittman, 206 James, Batesville, was bound over to the grand jury for shoplifting (second offense) and felony possession of controlled substance and possession of controlled substance.

Jackie Darby, 4336 Hwy. 49, Drew, entered a guilty plea to public drunk. She was fined $210.

Christopher J. Whitten, 117 Hoskins, Batesville, entered the city’s work release program in lieu of paying $210 for public drunk.

William C. Gammill, 121 Marie St., Batesville, failed to appear to answer to DUI-refusal, speeding and no proof of insurance.

Jessie L. Taylor Jr., 121 Hoskins Rd., Batesville, had a trial set for January 22 for trespassing.
George Ards, 106 Bradford, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of paraphernalia. He was fined $368.

He was found not guilty of simple assault by threat.

Shanita S. Taylor, 18 E. Hamilton Rd., Charleston, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting and old fines of $462 that have been due since January 2012.

All fines are due January 30.

Patrice D. Murry, 323 Mosier Rd., Enid, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,131.
Clarence Allen Jr., (no address given) entered a guilty plea to shoplifting and false information. He was fined $1,763.

Cheryl Singleton, 3 Effie Dr., Oxford, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart. She was fined $1,131.

Kayla Thompson, 503 Camille St., Senatobia, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart. She was fined $1,131.

Jimmie D. Haney, 142 Randall Rd., Courtland, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. He was fined $1,131.
Joel Covington, P.O. Box 411, Como, was fined $779 for DUI and had charges for careless driving and driving while license suspended remanded to the files. He was represented by Attorney David Walker.
