Closed-door sessions on today’s agenda

Five hearings and three executive sessions are scheduled in today’s agenda of the City of Batesville’s board of mayor and aldermen meeting at 2 p.m. at City Hall.

Custom Signs is seeking a sign variance for the Urgent Team clinic on Highway 6, TNT Fireworks is seeking a conditional use permit, Alvan Kelly has a petition seeking rezoning for a spot at Covenant Crossing for a digital billboard, Tommye W. Walker seeks a setback variance and Loves is seeking a variance to site and building codes.

Executive sessions are scheduled behind closed doors for new hires in the police and city clerk’s department and also for a personnel matter in the water and sewer department.

Annual bids are being accepted for backhoes and material and supplies used by  city departments also during today’s meeting.

An invoice for emergency repair at the Crown Cork and Seal lift station will be discussed during the department heads’ reports according to the agenda.

Code enforcement office administrator Pam Comer will report on last week’s Planning Commission meeting, seek a public hearing for  a variance to building and design standards for a new C-Spire Building at Covenant Crossing and seek final plat approval for lot #5 at Covenant Crossing.

Police Chief Tony Jones is expected to ask to declare a 2008 Crown Victoria surplus property and assistant city attorney Colmon Mitchell will present a letter of preclearance for the City’s 2012 redistricting plan.

The city board is expected to approve a change order in the amount of $6,382.65 for road repair work at the hospital as well as a pay request for $49,811.80 work with a U.V. Disinfection System Upgrade. Delta Water is seeking payment of $204,222.90 for work done with the Automated Water Meter Reading System project.

Fire Chief Tim Taylor will present a list of surplus property from his department and recommend transfer of a surplus Crown Victoria to the City of Sardis.
