Prescriptions shown to judge prove men possess Viagra legally

Two Batesville men had charges remanded to the files during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday after they showed Judge Bill McKenzie they had prescriptions for the drug Viagra.

Officer Will Parrish had filed charges against James P. Fletcher, 113-C Cole Dr., Batesville, and Levest Echols Jr., 111 Hoskins, Batesville, for misdemeanor possession of controlled substance May 22 at Family Supermarket.

The charges were remanded to the files after both Fletcher and Echols showed the judge they had prescriptions for the Viagra.

Derez McGhee, 111 Cole Dr., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of controlled substance (misdemeanor marijuana) while at Family Supermarket on May 22. He was fined $429.

Michael L. Brassell, 164 Audrey Rd., Courtland, had a charge for possession of controlled substance (misdemeanor) continued.

Anthony Tribble, 209 Draper St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana. He was fined $429.

Cynthia Tribble, 200-B Lester St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to open container. She was fined $312.

Latonya Cole, 123 Randall Rd., Courtland, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana in a vehicle, open container and no driver’s license. She was fined $1,286.

Lasondra Williams, 303 Greenhill Circle, Sardis, entered a not guilty plea to simple assault against Shardae Bobo. A trial was set for June 26.

Halicia Butler, 705 West Pearl St. Ext., Sardis, entered a not guilty plea to simple assault against Shardae Bobo. A trial was set for June 26.

Vallene Harris, 1283 Shiloh Rd., Courtland had a simple assault case dismissed after affiant Joey Griffin failed to appear to prosecute.

Keossha Hunt, 107 MLK, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct-failure to comply. She was fined $632.

Tiffany Bobo, 103 Browning, Batesville,  had a simple assault case dismissed after the affiant, Brenda Hankins failed to appear to prosecute.

She was fined $402 after pleading guilty to domestic violence-simple assault.
Allison Johnson, 104 1/2 Gracie Cove, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to malicious mischief and had a trial set for July 10.

She also had old fines of $668.75 that have been due since May 2011. Judge McKenzie told Johnson to have the fines paid in full by July 10 or serve 90 days in jail.

Rickyus Barksdale, 4238 Curtis, Batesville, had old fines of $373 that have been due since February 2011.

“How much did you pay to bond out of jail?” asked McKenzie.
“I had a $170 bond,” Barksdale replied.

“You mean to tell me you paid a $170 bond for a $199 dollar ticket and now it’s $373 because you didn’t tend to your business,” McKenzie said.

“You are throwing away money,” the judge added.

Barksdale was told to have  his fines paid in full or serve time in jail.

Issac Milton Jr., 107 MLK No. 2-B, Batesville, had a case for domestic violence-simple assault dismissed after the affiant, Quandra Johnson, failed to appear to prosecute.

Johnnie Williams, 218 Panola, Batesville, had a case continued until August 14 for possession of marijuana in a vehicle, DUI-second, driving while license suspended and running a stop sign. He will be represented by attorney Kevin Horan.

Diana Dubois, 4803 Hwy. 51 South, Pope, told Judge McKenzie she would be represented by attorney Tom Womble after entering a not guilty plea to DUI-refusal and open container.
