Michael Christon

BATESVILLE — Michael Christon, 52, died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Rev. Arthur L. Pollard will officiate. Burial will be in the Macedonia Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Christon was born Dec. 22, 1960, in Sardis to the late Wyatt Singleton and Betty Lester Love of Batesville.
Survivors, along with his mother, include: his wife, Shabravia Pollard of Batesville; four sons, Michael Rudd of Pope, Keith Wright of Toledo, Ohio, Kylan Pollard and Kahlaiol Pollard, both of Batesville; two daughters, Pastie Christon, Tichina Wright, both of Batesville; three brothers, Anthony Love of Courtland, Archie Love of Batesville and Eric Love of Memphis and three sisters, Beverly Shannon Drane of Charleston, Katrina Connor and Janet Draper, both of Batesville.

WATER VALLEY — Charles Cox, 45, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p..m at Second Concord M.B. Church in Batesville. Rev. Joseph Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Cox, born March 22, 1967, in Batesville, to the late Colbert Hambrick and Pauline Cox of Batesville, attended South Panola High School. He was a member of Second Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Lorene Cox of Water Valley; two sons, Armais Cox and Charles Cox Jr., both of Batesville; three daughters, Paula L. Cox, A’yana Cox and Rubie Cox, all of Batesville.

Bobby Lloyd Hudson

MARKS — Bobby Lloyd Hudson, 76, died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Quitman County Hospital.
Memorial graveside services will be held March 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery. Dr. Laurie Jones will officiate. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Hudson, born February 7, 1937 in Panola County, to the late Floyd and Christine Everett Hudson, worked for Graeber Brothers and retired from MDOC after 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joe Buckner Hudson.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Floyd Hudson and Bobby Buckner Hudson of Marks; one sister, Judy Hudson Bland of Marks; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Sylvester Pollard

Batesville – Sylvester Pollard Jr., 77, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 24 from 1 until 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Batesville.

Paul Dewitte Tingle

GREENWOOD – Paul Dewitte Tingle, 69, died on Friday February 15, 2013, at his residence.  He was the father of Rebecca Ann Hawkins Overstreet of Pope and Michelle Leona Tingle Daugherty of Batesville.

Funeral Services were Wednesday in Bethel Cemetery in Teasdale.  Williams and Lord Funeral Home of Greenwood had charge.

He was born on March 23, 1943 to the late Talmadge and Sarah (Morgan) Tingle.  He retired after 35 years with Kirby Inland Marine Riverboat Co., and resided the past 16 years in Carroll County. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Hawkins Tingle.
 
In addition to his daughters, he is survived by a brother, Odell Fitts of Kilmichael,  and two sisters, Annie Laura Cole of Jefferson, IA, and Corinne Maxey of Greenwood, and four grandchildren.

Olen White

POPE – Olen White, 86, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Methodist University Hospital.

Services were held Sunday at Forest Hill South in Memphis. Burial was in Forest Hill South Cemetery. Forest Hill Funeral Home had charge.

White, born to the late Ruben Burl and Ethel Lee Harris White, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a retired firefighter with Memphis Fire Department. He was a Shriner and Batesville Lions Club member, a Mason, member of the Batesville VFW and member of Enid Lake Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

Survivors include: his wife, Opal Lee White; three sons, Gerald White, Max Cole and Jerry Cole; one daughter, Wanda Beard; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Batesville Lions Club.
